A fit bod just isn’t enough to pull on the beach. Come on, gents, it’s time to groom hair, face and skin, as well as torso says Tony Marcus.
Those oils of Brad’s Achilles were aromatic and, on a basic summer survival level, it is good to have EDT (the smart way of saying eau de toilette) with you at all times.
The normal rule is to wear heavier scents in winter and citrus for summer. “In the summer, fragrance behaves differently,” says Olivier Creed, president of House of Creed. “English summers are notoriously warm and damp – this intensifies smells, makes them blossom. So the ideal smell for summer should be fresh, sharp and clean – sexy but not overpowering, which is unattractive.”
If you want to show off this summer, say that you wear vetiver. This is a tall grass from southern India that has been used in perfume for centuries. Its essential oil smells of freshly mown grass, with a deeper, woodier note. A new Creed this summer, Original Vetiver, smells like the perfect, light English summer we never seem to get. Creed says he has stripped the heavier bottom of vetiver to leave a “clean grass note”. A good rule about fragrance is to avoid putting alcohol based products directly onto the skin, because they have a drying effect.
